Health Needs and Barriers to Care: Workers' compensation

Focus group participants noted that workers' compensation costs have risen sharply in recent years.109 Danielson residents have a significantly higher rate of worker's compensation claims than either Connecticut or the rest of Killingly (Danielson 243, Connecticut 55 and Killingly 0.49 claims/1000 population, 1997 through 2002).110 Focus group participants felt that more education and advocacy to reduce work-related injuries was needed.111
