HUSKY Focus Groups - What Parents Are Saying

APPENDIX D - SPECIAL THANKS

The focus groups would not have been possible without the efforts of many people who are committed to improving children's health in Connecticut.

Thanks to the Department of Social Services for funding the child care, food and payments to participants of the focus groups. This project is part of an on-going effort by the Department to seek input from consumers and service providers. The Department's openness and collaboration has been critical as we all work to bring HUSKY to all eligible children in Connecticut.

Thanks to the Connecticut Health Policy Project for funding the professional services and technical assistance for the focus groups, in their efforts to ensure access to quality, affordable health care for all Connecticut residents.

Thanks for the efforts of those who recruited participants for the groups. They are all busy people who sacrificed their own time because they believe that the voices of parents must be heard by policymakers.

  • The Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition, Barbara Edinberg
  • The Institute for the Hispanic Family, Lydia Ojola and Carmen Martinez
  • Health First, Deb Crane and Yolanda Flores
  • The Stratford Parents' Place, Marcea Harvey

We are also grateful to these individuals for their support and assistance:

  • Evelyn Agosto
  • Jessica Garcia
  • Diana Jones
  • Megan Mangum
  • Susan Schultheiss
  • Renee J. Wright

We are also very grateful for the assistance of Mariette McCourt of the Medicaid Managed Care Council, Suzanne Haviland of the Health Care for All Coalition, and Connecticut Voices for Children.

We also owe a great debt of gratitude to the busy parents who gave us their time and openly shared their attitudes and ideas about a sensitive subject.
